Motorola faces fierce competition in the marketplace and the gatekeepers at point-of-sale are the sales reps at all locations selling Motorola devices (mobile phone stores, BestBuy, Costco etc.). These sales reps need to take a training course for every new phone that comes to market to stay current – by Motorola and Motorola competitors. That’s a lot. For years Motorola looked at training courses as throw away, non-public collateral, and the courses looked like it. But they realized that might be the wrong way to look at it. I acted as the client-facing lead manager and art director on the initial prototype project and the on-going release of subsequent training courses using our dynamic template.
Gamification of e-training
Along with a sleek, highly versatile template for e-training, we went the extra mile to gamify the mandatory end quiz that tested course information retention. My team and I concepted and created an easily modified quiz template, then developed a series of fun Motorola bot themes to keep content fresh and interest levels high. This led to higher pass rates and an uptick in global store-based sales.
